             Mrs. Marilyn Taylor Burk, wife of Jo Allen Burk of 3117 Lackland Ave., St. Louis, died Monday, April 29, 1963, at 3:20 p.m. in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She had been in ill health since August of 1962, and in and out of the hospital several times since the beginning of her illness. She was 21.

            The former Marilyn J. Taylor, she was born March 5, 1942, in Alton, a daugther of Mrs. Raymond Taylor Niday of Alton, and the late Arnold B. Taylor.

            She attended the Alton schools and following her graduation from Alton High School [in 1960] she was a pupil at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Springfield.

            She was married Sept. 1, 1961, in First Baptist Church, Alton, to Jo Allen Burk. They are parents of a son, Jeffrey Alan, nineteen months-old.

            Surviving besides her husband, mother, and son, are her maternal grandmother, Mrs. John Schien, Virden.

            Mrs. Burk was a member of First Baptist Church and funeral rites were conducted in the church by the Rev. Orrin M. Anderson. Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery.

            Her body was at Gent Chapel where friends were able to call the evening and morning before the services at the church.

Marilyn passed way to soon. I don't know when she passed but I was discharged from the Marine Corp in June of 1964 and she was gone then or shortly there after. I remember her and her Mother sitting on the front porch of their home in the 10 hundred block of Alby street in Alton. They always had a kind word for me and my buddy
(Steve Black)when we passed their house.
