Funeral services for Mrs. Ruthie Jane Taylor, 22, of Sedalia MO, formerly of Alton, were held Monday, Jan. 25, 1965 at Smith Funeral Home, Alton with the Rev. C. L. Gruver, pastor of Alton Gospel Tabernacle officiating. Burial was in Valhalla Memorial Park. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday, the 24th.

Mrs. Taylor, who moved eight months ago from Alton to Sedalia, died Tuesday, January 19, 1965 at 9:40 p.m., at the University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia, MO, where she had been a patient three weeks.

The former Ruthie Jane Oswalt, she was born at West Point, Miss., Feb. 3, 1942. She was married in 1962 in California to Maurice Taylor. She attended the Alton schools and was graduated from Alton High School in 1960, and was a member of Alton Gospel Tabernacle.

Surviving in addition to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hernia Oswalt of Alton, and husband are a daughter, Bobbie Jean, one month old; four sisters: Mrs. Sarah Massa, Philippine Islands; Mrs. Estelle Enloe, Roxana, Ellen and Bertha Oswalt, Alton and two brothers,Wesley and Alvin, Alton.

Ruth Oswalt was in my typing class and she typed very fast.
I sat behind her and could never keep up with her typing speed.
Seems she died about a year after high school --- pretty sure she had gotten married.

Rest In Peace Ruthie.
