Carole Kober and I lived three or four houses away from each other from first grade through 12th. She lived right across the street from Horace Mann School in a neat little white house with a fence that her mother kept up spotlessly. I lived on the corner of Edwards and Clawson. Her father taught chemistry at the high school. She graduated early, in Dec. of 1959 or she would have been in the class of 1960.

Carole was smart, talented and accomplished. She wrote me quite a bit as an adult, and I believe she had a wonderful family life. She was very proud of her boys and the whole family did many things together, including skiing.

Her mother lived with her for some time before she died. I will always regret that I was unable to go to the last class of 1960 reunion that Carol attended. She was anxious to see me, and I wanted to see her. I just had too many commitments around that time. I believe she saw many old friends there.

I did not know Carole had died until my 40th reunion, in 2000. She had stopped writing me, but I was so hopeful of seeing her there. Then I found that she had died of breast cancer. She fought it a long time.

Carole is remembered.

I remember Carole, having been her dancing partner in the evening classes at the YWCA during sixth grade. I hadn't heard from her for decades, then out of a clear blue sky, I got an e-mail from her in the late 1990s. She also sent me a picture, but the University's e-mail system was too primitive to read mime files at the time, so I never got to see it.

She was indeed a fine person, another I'll regret not being able to see again.

Hi, "Rog,"

That's how you signed my 1960 Tatler.  I didn't remember that you took dancing lessons with Carol at the Y in 6th grade. I took them with Carlton Ziegler. The first time I ever heard him paly the guitar, he played "Your Cheating Heart"  for me. He played it quite well. It was one of his favorites. Later, he also had a band called "The Impressions."  There's a picture up on his Classmates profile.

Hope all is well with you and yours, Marilyn
