Odell Fox, Jr.

ALTON - Odell Fox Jr ,57, died at five p m Sunday, Nov. 7. 1999, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Born May 5, 1942, in Grenada. Miss., he was the son of Annie Mae (Everage) Fox-Williams, who survives, and the late Odell Fox, Sr.

Fox served four years in the U.S. Army, one in Germany. He was employed at Clark Oil Refining Corp in Hartford for the past 19 years, and before that he was employed by Chrysler Corp. in Missouri for 13 years. He was a charter member of Unity Fellowship Church, where he formerly served as assistant treasurer, served as a loan executive with the United Way Campaign for three years; served on the board of directors and as a coach for the Godfrey Khoury League; was an avid bowler with several bowling leagues and enjoyed watching children excel in sports.

In 1972, he married Ella Mae "Bonnie" McLemore- Harris, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Ryan Wade and Rory Warren Fox; five children from a previous marriage, Odell D. Fox, Dorindia Shavers, Patricia Ann McKellop, Melody Cunningham and Cornell Fox; a stepson, Robert Wayne Harris; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three sisters, Eerie Burton, Margaret Davis, and Dorothy Musgrave; two aunts, Jessie Monroe and Lovie Woodward; an uncle, Clinton Everage; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation at Unity Fellowship Church in Godfrey. Funeral services at St. James Baptist Church in Alton. Burial was in Upper Alton Cemetery. Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home in Godfrey was in charge of arrangements.

I liked Odell, I used to sit with him at some of Alton Highs Basketball games in later life.Chuck Schwartz and I went to see him a short time before he passed.He looked good and thought that he was going to have a considerable more time,that did not happen. I am glad we went when we did,I think it made him feel good that we thought of him.
Keep a seat for me Odell, in the big stadium.
