RICHARD D. BRECHT

  Brecht

            Dr. Richard David Brecht, 35, of 4 Fairway Drive, Murphysboro, IL, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 1978 at Wesley Pavillion Hospital in Chicago where he was taken after an automobile accident in March.

            He was an assistant professor of Special Education at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and was also vice-president of the Center for Comprehensive Services there. He had been with the university for five years.

            Born in Godfrey, IL, November 18, 1942, he was the son of Evelyn Elizabeth Brecht of Godfrey and the late Richard Henry Brecht.

            Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Mary Clark, whom he married on June 9, 1967, in Nashville, IL; and two children, August Richard and Julie Christine Brecht, both at home.

            The body was brought from Carbondale to Gent Funeral Home where visitation and services were held. The Rev. Walter H. Krebs officiated.

            Burial was in Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey.

 

   

 The family of RICHARD D. BRECHT wishes to express sincere appreciation to relatives, friends and neighbors for their loving concern and their many expressions of sympathy — the cards, flowers, memorials and prayers. A special thanks to Rev.Walter Krebbs, Gent Funeral Home, the pallbearers and all who attended the funeral.

Richard always, always was cheerful, happy, encouraging. He was a big part of the beginning class at North Junior High, and had many close friends. His life was much too short and he had such promise in his career. A sad sad remembrance...
