MARIE BELL
Wright
Gwendolyn Marie Bell Wright, 31, a former Alton resident died at 8 a.m., June 2, 1971 at The Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, MD, following a 1 ½ year illness. She was born January 16, 1940, the daughter of Bertha Bell of Alton and the late Rev. Melvin Bell.
Mrs. Wright was married to Albert Wright, August 1963 at Scott Air Force Base near Belleville. She was a member of the Salem Baptist Church, active in girl scouts and the local PTA executive board in Silver Springs.
She is survived by her husband, her mother, three daughters; Audrey, Shandra
and Carla all living at home; three brothers, Melvln Jr., John and Carl, all of Alton; six sisters, Sharon and Margaret Bell of Alton, Mrs. Gloria Williams of Alton, Mrs. Almeta Taliaferro of Detroit, Mrs. Joyce Thompson of Decatur and Mrs. Joan Ballinger, currently in Okinawa.
Funeral services were held at the St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. N. E. Owens officiating. Burial was at the Upper Alton Cemetery.
