Larry D. Tarrant, 67, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Wood River, the son of the late Eslie and Ocie (Dorris) Tarrant.
He married the former Phyllis Goetz on June 15, 1960, in Cottage Hills, and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Dena Muscarella of Godfrey; one son, Jeffrey Tarrant of Godfrey; five grandchildren and their spouses, Danielle and Daryl Trask of Roxana, Melissa and Jason Wendle of Godfrey, Devin Muscarella of Godfrey, Damon Muscarella of Alton, and Jackie Tarrant of Bethalto; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Trask, Cadence Trask, Colton Wendle and Parker Wendle; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Rusty Lamberson of Hull, Ill.; one brother, William Tarrant of Alton; a daughter-in-law, Anna Tarrant; two stepgrandchildren, Venus and Adam; two half sisters, Doris Cottingham of Brighton and Alta Haas of Midway, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was formerly employed at Granite City Steel as an electrician for more than 40 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local No. 68. He was an avid pool player and he enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ricky Tarrant; one brother, Robert Tarrant; one sister-in-law, Jean Tarrant; a brother-in-law, Darrell Jones; a special friend, Wayne Tucker; and his dog, Punkin.
