ALTON

Salle A. Wilkinson, 71, received eternal rest and peace at 11:47 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 18, 1942, in Alton, the daughter of Gervis and Ida (Monroe) Perkins. Salle was married to Albert J. Wilkinson on July 27, 1963, in Alton. He survives.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a member of the River Bend Red Hat Belles. She was an L.P.N. in various Nursing Homes and Home Health Agencies.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wilkinson and her husband Ahsan Habib of St. Louis; two sons, David (Carolyn) Wilkinson of St. Charles, Mo.; and Michael Wilkinson of Godfrey; two sisters, Edna Perkins of Kansas City and Phyllis (Henry) Moore of Alton; her brother, David (Lisa) Craig of Alton; five grandchildren, Ahmed, Amna, Ma’jidah, Lexi and Cole; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Perkins; a sister, Sister Virginia M. Perkins O.S.U.

Visitation IS from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home in Alton. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery.

I have known Salle since kindergarten at st.Patricks school in Alton.  We also lived  2 blocks apart.   Often times we walked home from school together.  Salle was a very gentle person and so smart.  I remember her great smile.

  I haven't seen her since one of.our class reunions.    Still her smile was so warm.   I live.so far from Alton and miss out on seeing my classmates but so nice that I do have good memories of them.      Salle , you were special,  rest in peace
