          BETHALTO

 

          Edward T. Matteson Jr., formerly of Alton, died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004.

          He was born September 7, 1942, in West Frankfort, IL, to the late Edward T. and Lillie (Plasters) Matteson.

          The U.S. Army veteran served his country from 1960 until 1961 and was a laborer at Laclede Steel in Alton.

          He is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda S. and Larry Wiegand of Bethalto and Rita and Jim Buttry of East Alton; two nieces, Cody and her husband, John, Foiles of East Alton and Jay Kizer of Granite City; and other extended family and friends.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lossie E. (Davis) Matteson.

          In celebration of his life, memorial services were held at Elias-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bethalto. The Rev. Charles West officiated.

          Internment was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

          Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
