REV. CHARLES GILL

ALTON — Rev. Charles T. Gill, 76, received eternal rest and peace on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at 3:55 p.m. at Rosewood Care Center. He was born June 3, 1942, in Alton, Illinois. He was one of three children born to Lloyd and Hazel (Henderson) Gill.

He attended Alton Public Schools and Southern Illinois University. He was employed with Olin Corporation, retiring after 39 years of service.

Rev. Gill was united in Holy Matrimony to Janice (Ballinger) Gill on June 8, 1963. During his more than 30 years of ministry he pastored three churches: Model Chapel A.M.E., Alton, Parks Chapel A.M.E., Centreville, and Trinity A.M.E., Alton.

In addition to his wife Janice, he leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Shelly Gill and Stephanie (Minister Jeffrey) Houston, two granddaughters, Jessica and Brittany Houston, one brother, Lloyd Gill of Little Rock, Arkanasas; one sister-in-law, Malinda Goin of Peoria, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Wallace Ballinger of Alton; and Douglas Ballinger of Fairview Heights, Illinois; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, dear friends, Jim Day and Anthony Wagner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen (Gill) Jenkins.

Visitation was Thursday Sept. 13, 2018, from 9 until time of service at 11 a.m. at Unity Fellowship Church, 1301 West Delmar, Godfrey, Illinois. Rev. Jerome A. Rogers will be Eulogist.

Cathy M. Williams & Sons Funeral Home in Alton in charge of arrangements.
