Morgan Henry Colen

Morgan Henry Colen of Abilene, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001. Graveside services were held in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.

Mr. Colen was born March 29, 1940 in Humphrey, Arkansas, to the late James and Magnolia (Smith) Colen.He graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1960.  In June of 1960, he entered the United States Air Force where he served for 26 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1986. He married Jean Ann Crawford on March 20, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Colen; three sons, Terry Colen of Austin, Richy Colen of Lahall, Virginia and Jeffrey Colen of Patrick AFB, Fla.; one daughter, Stephanie Colen of Columbus, Mississippi; Godchildren, Ricky and Christine Mitchell of Abilene, Texas; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Garland C. Colen of Alton, Ill., James L. Colen of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, May Alice Colen of Alton, Ill., Minnie (Clarence) Caldwell of Flint, Mich.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Colen was preceded in death by his grandmother, Everlener Spearman; his parents, his brother, James E. Colen, Jr., and his sister, Lorene Johnson.

Visitation was at the funeral home.
