Nancy Conour Phillips just sent me a note that Paul had died last Friday, Jan. 18th. I called her because this loss hits very close to home for me, Nancy and Paul were classmates,  band mates, and friends  for most of my childhood and all through high school. Nancy was, as always, gracious to a friend who is deeply saddened by this loss. Paul made the best of his life, having a positive impact on hundreds and hundreds of young lives and on his friends's lives. Nancy and Paul had a long and happy marriage and have a wonderful family. The only consolation is that he is in a better place. My sincere sympathy and best wishes to all his loved one.

I learned last year that Paul and Nancy lived in Peoria and met with them. I had not known either of them other than classmates in school, but learned last year that we have lived within 20 miles of each other since 1966 and did not know. Paul told me of his great career in education service to youth and also his endurance of several health issues. But he was upbeat, happy, and a joy to talk with. I had hoped to meet again this Spring. May he rest in peace. I know he will be remembered fondly by many.

I am quite tardy with my comments about Paul having passed, since I learned of it through our Facebook connection on that day. The thread of posts on his behalf were greatly appreciated.

Paul was genuinely likeable in our high school years, and I am sure, in the years since. It shows in the messages/posts on his belhalf.

I must add a note about our Facebook connection. When he reached out to me with a 'Friend Request' I was startled because I have anther longtime friend named Paul Phillips, although nice as long as with (this) Paul and I. I replied, asking how we knew each other and weren't we in fact, alreaady "Facebook Friends". I think he was a little put off by my caution and zeroed in our years at AHS. Of course that was an AH HAH moment for me. I really enjoyed reconnecting and learning of his life's paaths after that. My other friend of the same first and last name, is from Newport News, VA.

Saddened by his loss, comforted by the love he shared with Nancy and family. God speed through eternity, Paul.

Your friend from AHS '60 (Let there be  doubt)
