E. F. Hauhe

E. F. Hauhe

Errol Floyd "Dutch" Hauhe passed away, Monday, February 19, 2018. Loving father of Alecia (William) Weston. Grandfather of Tanner Weston. Son of the late Dorothy Haynes (nee Holmes) of Sacramento CA and the late Floyd Hauhe of St. Louis MO. Brother of Ronald and Roland Hauhe, Leonard Haynes and Jackie Jones. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Born in Alton IL, March 31,1942, Dutch went into active duty with the U.S. Air force shortly after graduation from Alton High School. He served most of his time in Japan.

After returning to civilian life he went to work for his father as General Manager of the Evansville Auto Auction. In 1987 Dutch moved to Missouri to manage the St. Louis Auto Auction for the new owners (GE Capital, then Manheim). Dutch made the auction a huge success. He was admired and respected by his employees. He was often called a fair employer by many of his more than 1,000 employees.

Throughout his career he spent most of his spare time on the Ohio, Mississippi and Missouri Rivers on one of the boats that he had throughout the years. In 2004 he purchased his true love of boats--The Scoundrel.  Dutch and the Scoundrel made several big trips. The biggest trip was the great loop that he did mainly solo in the dead of winter.

His other passion included riding his Harley Davidsons. Dutch has ridden his motorcycles in nearly every state in the country. He was very proud to be part of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America. This was a coast to coast ride that Dutch was able to participate in ten years in a row. This ride was to raise money for terminally ill children to attend a medically staffed summer camp at no cost.

He had a special talent for telling jokes, making people laugh and showing everyone a good time. He was a fun-loving, fearless man who will be missed by many of his friends and "fans."

Services were at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, Ballwin MO. Internment Bellerive Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Victoryjunction.org or Blessingofthefleetstl.com.

Let's not think of him as being gone, just on a long ride.
